When should I book my newborn session?
It’s best to book your session during your second or early third trimester. I accept only 3 newborn sessions per month to ensure each family receives my full attention, so booking early guarantees your spot.
When is the best time to photograph my newborn?
The ideal time is within the first 5-14 days after birth. During this time, babies are still sleepy and flexible, making it easier to capture those curled-up, dreamy poses.
What if my baby arrives early or late?
Don’t worry! Once you’ve booked, I’ll reserve space around your due date. If your baby comes earlier or later, we’ll adjust your session accordingly to ensure we capture those precious first days.
How long will the session last?
Newborn sessions typically last 1-3 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and posing your little one without feeling rushed.
Where will the session take place?
Sessions can take place in my cozy Kansas City studio, fully equipped with props, lighting, and everything needed for a stress-free experience. I also offer an in-home session add-on ($300) if you prefer the convenience of capturing these moments in your own space.
Do you provide props and outfits?
Yes! I have a curated collection of high-quality props, wraps, hats, and outfits to suit a variety of styles. You’re welcome to share your preferences, and I’ll create a setup that reflects your vision.
Can siblings and parents be included in the session?
Absolutely! Both sibling and parent portraits are available depending on the collection you choose. If you’d like to add both siblings and parents, check out my Luxury Newborn Collection or add parent/sibling portraits for just $200.
What happens after the session?
You’ll be invited to an in-person reveal session at my studio 2-3 days after your shoot. During this private appointment, you’ll view a gallery of 45-60 hand-edited images and choose your favorites. I’ll guide you through selecting products that best fit your style and space.
Do I have to purchase anything beyond the session fee?
No, you’re free to purchase only what you love! I offer a range of heirloom-quality products, including wall art, albums, folio boxes, and digital images, so you can invest in the items that speak to you.
What if my baby doesn’t cooperate during the session?
Babies are unpredictable, and that’s okay! My sessions are completely baby-led, and I have plenty of experience (and patience!) to handle fussy or unsettled little ones. We’ll take breaks as needed and ensure your baby is comfortable throughout the process.
